DEVIATION SESSION #32 – SPECIAL GUESTS JOY ORBISION (DJ) & ELECTRIC WIRE HUSTLE (LIVE) WEDNESDAY 7th JULY 2010

Deviation returns to The Gramaphone basement for our regular monthly session on the first Wednesday in July, with special guests Joy Orbison & Electric Wire Hustle.

Responsible for one the biggest records of 2009, “Hyph Mngo“, we look forward to welcoming Joy Orbsion to the Gramaphone basement. Fresh from playing at Sonar Festival 2010, we’ve been waiting for the perfect time to invite Joy to Deviation. With past releases on HotFlush and AUS recordings, he has runs his own record label Doldrums. With his DJ sets ranging around the genres of Garage, Jungle, Dubstep, House and UK Funky, we look forward to having Joy Orbision play an uncompromised freestyle set.

On their first tour in Europe, Electric Wire Hustle will be setting up their instruments for their first live gig in London. Developing their own sound and twist on modern hip hop, psychedelic and soul, the three piece band consisting of  Myele Manzanza on drums, multi-instrumentalist and producer Taay Ninh  and Mara TK on vocals. Having collaborated with the likes of Gerogina Anne Muldrow, Stacy Epps and Steve Spacek. Thier debut self titled album was released in New Zealand in late 2009 and has been picked up by BBE Records for international release in later this month. We look forward to welcoming them to the Gramphone basement for their very first UK performance.

Resident DJ Benji B will be holding down the decks for the rest of the session alongside host MC Judah as usual. Please arrive early to avoid disappointment on the door.
