After two amazing sessions in July, Deviation returns to The Gramaphone basement for the first of our August sessions with special guests Quest & Actress.

Actress is responsible for one of our favourite LPs of the year and we’ve been looking forward to having him play Deviation for quite a while. He released the ‘Splazsh’ LP on Honest Jon’s Records ea…rlier this year, with previous releases including records on Aus, Prime Numbers, Various Productions and his very own Werk Discs record label, home to likes of Zomby, Lone and Lukid. He’s also worked and remixed the likes of Joy Orbison, Martyn and Kode 9 to name a few. Known for his passion of rare groove, boogie and soulful music past and present, and for his futuristic productions, we look forward to seeing what Actress finds in his crates for his DJ set at Deviation.

Our second guest DJ is Quest, who has created a one of our favourite tunes this year with the cut ‘Smooth Skin’. Signed to Deep Medi Musik records, and part of West London’s Anti Social Entertainment crew alongside the likes of Silkie, Kromestar and Mizz Beats to name a few, he is best known for productions in the style that most would call dubstep. But as Smooth Skin showed, he is a versatile producer across the tempos and no doubt the opportunity to play a Deviation set will mean we are treated to a super deep selection. We are all looking forward to hearing what Quest has in his box at his Deviation debut.

Resident DJ Benji B will be holding down the decks for the rest of the session alongside host MC Judah as usual.

Roof Light has released a varied, not to mention stunning body of work so far on Styrax, Highpoint Lowlife, L2S and Millions of Moments. Those of you who have listened to his Soundcloud or Myspace pages will appreciate the incredible variety of his productions.

Roof Light will be playing some of his own productions as part of his set for us on this very special evening.

Essence of Chi returns to the Gramaphone to celebrate Carnival weekend in full effect! Teddy Music formerly DJ Silencer

Without doubt one of the most important Grime producers working in the game right now. Teddy (formerly DJ Silencer) had produced tracks for Skepta, Lethal B, Ghetts, D Double E and more recently P Money.

His stand-out productions are always popular with MCs and get heavy rotation on radio shows from the likes of Logan Sama, Westwood and Cameo. Teddy’s most recent work is collaboration with up-and-coming producer G.Tank entitled Ghanaian Fire.

A veteran of pirate radio, Teddy holds down a regular spot on newly legal Rinse FM, and has been smashing shows up and down the country. For grime fans anywhere, this is a performance not to be missed!

Simbad

A prolific producer as well as DJ, Simbad has produced under many different aliases but is best known for his collaborations with Karizma, under the guise of IZMABAD.

The no nonsense Frenchman describes his DJ style as ‘Quality Booty Music with a bit of Je Ne Sais Quoi…’ something we very much like the sound of. His versatility sees his style touch jazz, dancehall, funk hip-hop, deep house, garage, disco and broken soul - guaranteed to get the party rocking.

Doc Daneeka

Swansea’s Doc Daneeka, has been steadily establishing himself as one of the most promising producers to come out of the UK underground scene. Putting his own twist on the House and Funky sound with sub-low bass and rattling percussion saw him named in Fact Magazine’s ‘Ones to Watch’ for 2010.

As well as releasing his own tunes on the fabric, RAMP and PTN imprints, he has formed his own label, TenThousandYen. Championed by Marcus Nasty, Kode 9, Giles Peterson, Sinden, and Ben UFO to name but a few, demand for his work has seen him remix Delphic and the Digital Mystikz classic, Pathways.

SATURDAY 21st August 2010 sees FIZZY celebrate its 5th birthday. From its humble beginnings at the Southside Bar in Warren Street to the legendary Oh Bar, in the heart of Camden. Fizzy has always maintained its diverse policy of music with headline Dj’s across the Drum and Bass spectrum, and this is how we are intend to keep it.

So then…5 years deep meant it was time to do something big, and you really don’t get bigger than LTJ BUKEM & MC CONRAD!

BUKEM’s label, Good Looking Records is responsible for some of the scene’s most seminal tracks in Demons Theme, Atlantis, Horizon’s and Music. This is as well as the essential Logical Progression CD series, and the launch of artists such as Makoto, Paul SG and Furney.

Performance wise these two are recognised as one of the tightest acts there is, end of. BUKEM is renewed for his tight, yet energetic and intricate mixing, while CONRAD is without doubt up there with the greatest lyricists DnB has produced. This reputation has seen them perform literally all around the globe, and also establish a hugely successful residency at two of London’s premier clubs, The End (rip) and Fabric.

FIZZY are ridiculously proud to be able to offer you the chance to see these two genuine A-list & household names at the intimate venue of Gramaphone in Shoreditch, fast becoming one of London’s hottest DnB venues. It will be a rare performance not to be missed.

We don’t rest-up there though, we also welcome back 1Xtra’s DJ BAILEY to grace the Fizzy decks once again. Also a house-hold name of DnB, BAILEY smashed up our 4th birthday party last year and we are expecting nothing less this time round;) With a selection ethos of quality DnB BAILEY is sure to keep the dancefloor moving and the head-nodders approving.

ANDYSKOPES has been a regular guest at FIZZY throughout the years and so having him down for this special night made perfect sense. Providing the B-side to FIZZY BEATS’s first release last year, Andy has been working on some more new tunes recently and his set is sure to be full of dubs to lay down the perfect Fizzy groove.

MC Moose also returns to Fizzy to lend his distinctive voice to the evening. A true soldier of the scene. Moose is one of the few mc’s that has managed to be accepted across all genre’s of the music, and that is down to his continued passion for the scene and recognition of what is needed and when.

Backed up by residents DJ’s Mr Joseph, DJ Izzy alongside resident MC’s Deefa & Cliche the night is going to provide nothing but the best of what DnB has to offer, be that past, present or future it is all FIZZY!

One more thing…. for the first time ever FIZZY has decided to open up a 2nd room!!! This is to let everyone have a bit of a change of scenery should the need arise.

Heny G and the Soul Sinners are established names for anyone who knows their Dubstep, and these two are sure to give room 2 a heavy dose of bass and vibe.

Diamond Eye, Doctor Khan have played at FIZZY before, and alongside former FIZZY member DJ Dimensions they round off the room 2 line-up. This means a mix of Dubstep, hip-hop, uk funky, house, future garage and who knows what else!?
